AN AFFORDABLE JAPANESE BENTO MEAL IS WITHIN REACH AT THIS TOKYO TRAIN-INSPIRED BGC JOINT

Not all restaurants in BGC are expensive. Exhibit A: the newly reopened Go Bento in Bonifacio High Street.

After months of refurbishing, the renovated Go Bento sports a fresh look that draws inspiration from Tokyo train stations: red tiles, distinct signages, and railings.

Matching the restaurant’s aesthetic is a menu of affordable Japanese bento boxes perfect for work lunch outs or even takeouts before going home.

A bento box is a cultural staple in Japanese cuisine, with the word “bento” coined to describe full meals that can easily be handed out to individuals.

It’s usually square or rectangular in shape, with dividers to separate different dishes, usually rice or noodles, fish or meat, and assortments of side dishes of vegetables.

If you’re a newbie at Go Bento, their bento boxes have everything and more to fill your appetite in just one meal.

Choose from these sets: Beef Misono (P229), Chicken/Pork Katsu (P299), Tempura (P229), Chicken Karaage (P229), Chicken Teriyaki (P229), Yakitori (P205), Salmon Teriyaki (P319), and Healthy Bento (P229). Each set comes with miso soup, vegetables, and a drink.

The restaurant also offers Big Bento boxes, which you can customize yourself. It consists of two mains, miso soup, a side dish, veggies, and Japanese rice, all for P285.

The choices for your two mains are divided into two: Chicken/Pork Katsu, Chicken Karaage, or Mixed Tempura for Main A, and Beef Misono, Chicken Teriyaki, or Chicken Yakitori for Main B.

Go Bento is located at The Spa Building, 9th Ave., Bonifacio High Street, Taguig City.
