D.C.-BASED GHOSTBURGER POPS UP IN CHARLESTON WITH CRAVE-WORTHY CREATIONS

If you like a good burger, you might want to reserve time from Thursday, May 23, to Sunday, May 26, for the Ghostburger pop-up at Meeting on Market (120 Market Street, Charleston). Ghostburger started as a pop-up in D.C. but was so popular, it became a mainstay.

The journey of Ghostburger began when chef Robert Aikens, renowned for his work with restaurateur Stephen Starr, joined forces with chef Ben Tenner at Espita Mezcaleria in 2020. Aikens crafted exceptional burgers, while Tenner put his spin on the iconic Philly cheesesteak.

Customers in D.C. couldn’t get enough of the griddled patties, soft potato rolls, and crinkle fries. Aikens has been perfecting his craft for years — his burger at Starr’s gastropub the Dandelion was crowned the best in Philly in 2013.

For the Charleston visit, Ghostburger is bringing all the hits, like the the Ghostburger, a classic riff on a Big Mac, and the “real” cheesesteak with shaved ribeye, caramelized onions, homemade whiz.

In 2022, the Ghostburger team hinted at their plans to expand the brand. Could the Lowcountry be their next destination? Take a look at the Charleston pop-up menu here.
