A NEW ‘CROCHET CAFE’ IS COMING TO CAPITOL HILL THIS SUMMER

Brace yourselves, party people — a hip new spot is coming to the nightlife district of Capitol Hill. Stitch Cafe, a coffee and tea shop that will double as a “crochet and crafting hub,” is opening later this summer, according to its Kickstarter.

Capitol Hill Seattle Blog has the deets (slang for “details”): “Stitch Cafe will provide yarn and other materials, classes for those interested in learning, as well a full espresso bar and array of teas.” The new cafe will occupy the space on Pine Street that was formerly home to Poco Bar and Lounge, and like that business, Stitch will be an inclusive space. “As an LGBTQIA+ fiber artist herself, [founder Sarah] Chae aims to cultivate an environment that is welcoming and comfortable for everybody,” CHS writes.

CHS reports that Chae is partnering with Shimon Masaki of Upright Tree Coffee Roasters, who will be supplying the coffee. Follow Stitch on Instagram here for updates.

Now on to more news of the week:

Mioposto plans to open a pizzeria in Eastlake

Mioposto, a local wood-fired pizzeria mini-chain, is opening its fifth location, reports the Puget Sound Business Journal. This one will be at the base of the Liza apartment building on Eastlake Avenue, across the street from Rogers Playground. Founded in 2006 in Mount Baker, Mioposto is that rare pizza spot that is also a brunch destination thanks to its array of breakfast pizzas topped with bacon and eggs. The restaurant should open early next year.

Wing Dome is celebrating its 30th anniversary with cheap wings

Wings may not be a traditional summertime food — we personally don’t like to get saucy and hot in 90-degree weather, anyway — but fans of Wing Dome will want to mark their calendars for Thursday, August 1. That’s when the local chain is marking its 30th anniversary by offering customers 0.30 wings (six per customer) at the Greenwood and Kirkland locations of Wing Dome. So not the Pier 56 or Seattle Center locations, in other words. Sorry tourists. Maybe you should go to Greenwood anyway? It’s an underrated food neighborhood.

DeLille Cellars is putting the Bordeaux in U Village

Does that little bit of wordplay track? Probably not but it’s Friday and not many of you have scrolled down this far. (Hi everyone who made it down here!) Woodinville’s DeLille Cellars, a longstanding winery that specializes in Bordeaux-stlye blends, is opening a “Bordeaux-inspired restaurant and tasting room concept” in University Village (inside the former Amazon Books space). With a target opening date of summer 2025, this will be DeLille’s first foray into Seattle.
