55-YEAR-OLD CLASSIC ITALIAN RESTAURANT ANDRE’S HAS REOPENED IN MID-WILSHIRE

LA’s longtime old-school favorite Andre’s Italian Restaurant reopened in Mid-Wilshire. For 55 years, the family-operated eatery was located across the street from the Original Farmers Market. As of April 11, it now resides inside the historic Dominguez-Wilshire Building on Wilshire Boulevard and Cloverdale.

Andre’s owners were forced to close in 2018 to make way for a new development and found a new home for the beloved red sauce specialist in the short-lived Eleven City Diner. Though the new space is stunning and considerably bigger, guests can still order heaping piles of spaghetti or hot lasagna platters from the cafeteria line. Gelato service and outdoor seating will come down the line later. Be sure to glance up at the painted mural depicting Andre’s history in LA while dining inside.

Co-owner Stephanie Gagliarducci is the grandniece of Andre’s founder, Dominic Andreone. In 1963, Andreone opened the original Andre’s at the Town and Country shopping center. The 99-year-old Andreone died in 2022. Andre’s is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 5400 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, 90036.
