THIS CHOCOLATE MARTINI IS THE PERFECT EXCUSE TO DOUBLE UP ON DESSERT

If your dream after-dinner combo is a dessert + cocktail in one, then this chocolate martini will be a dream come true. Think of a rich chocolate dessert and a boozy bev, all in one delicious sip. With chocolate syrup, chocolate liqueur and Baileys, this drink takes a simple vodka cocktail to a whole new level. Skip the chocolate-covered strawberries this year—we can’t think of a better way to cap off your Valentine’s Day dinner than with this dessert cocktail. Here’s how to make it the best it can be:

How to make a chocolate martini:

Everyone has their own opinion on the best way to prepare a martini: shaken vs. stirred. In this recipe, we choose to shake our Baileys, chocolate liqueur, and vodka with ice in order to get our mixture extra cold.

Top tips for making a chocolate martini:

The chocolate liqueur. Use whatever brand is your preference. If you can't find chocolate liqueur, crème de cacao will also work.

The Irish cream. Baileys is our go-to choice, but you’ve got options when it comes to store-bought Irish cream. Feeling fancy? Make it homemade!

The best vodka to use. We chose to use Smirnoff vodka here, but you can really use whatever bottle is your preference. Use your favorite, or check out our list of our favorite vodka brands for inspo.

The chocolate drizzle. Adding a chocolate rim and drizzles of chocolate to the inside of our glasses makes these drinks extra special, but if you'd prefer to serve your martini plain, go for it—they'll be just as delicious as is.

Freeze it. Craving a frozen version of this martini? Our frozen hot chocolate martini has all the same boozy, chocolate flavor in a frosty form.

Make it ahead. Mix your cocktail ingredients ahead of time, then store in the fridge. When ready to serve, simply add ice and shake.

How should I garnish my martini?

We love topping ours with shaved chocolate or a pinch of cocoa powder, but feel free to get creative with the garnishes. Try adding a strawberry or a spring of mint, or even crushed Oreos to the rim. The more the better, we always say.

What goes with a chocolate martini?

If you're looking to double up on dessert, serve this chocolate martini with Oreo cookie balls or chocolate pots de crème for a chocolate lover's dream spread. Need a break from the richness? Our no-bake blackberry cheesecake bars or raspberry tiramisu would be perfect sweet pairings to your cocktail.
