MICHELIN ANNOUNCES ANOTHER 6 LOS ANGELES RESTAURANTS UP FOR 2024 AWARDS

Six Los Angeles restaurants, plus one in Santa Barbara, were added to Michelin’s California dining guide on July 10, 2024. In all, California received 13 “recommended” restaurants, which could later qualify as a Bib Gourmand or receive actual Michelin stars at the California Michelin Guide awards ceremony on August 5 in Half Moon Bay.

Michelin’s July additions throughout the region include Glassell Park’s Barra Santos, the barely three-month-old Danbi, sourdough pizza specialist Grá, chef Josh Skenes’s Leopardo, Thai Town’s Mae Malai Thai House of Noodles, and serial restauranteur Janet Zuccarini and chef Rob Gentile’s Stella in West Hollywood. Silvers Omakase opened in February 2024 in Santa Barbara and also joins Michelin’s “recommended” list.

The Michelin team last added Southern California restaurants in March under its “discoveries” category with Funke, Quarter Sheets, and Koreatown’s longtime Peruvian operator, Pollo a la Brasa. Every selection, whether “discovery” or “recommended,” is a build-up to the organization’s annual ceremony next month.

According to Michelin, inspectors categorize the “recommended” by highlighting local dining establishments in a city, while “discoveries” showcase new and compelling restaurant talent across the state.

Los Angeles received only one new Michelin star in 2023 for chef Phil Pretty’s tasting menu restaurant Heritage in Long Beach.
