A PEACOCK-THEMED COCKTAIL LOUNGE UNFURLS ITS FEATHERS IN HOUSTON HEIGHTS

A new peacock-themed cocktail lounge in Houston is ready to show off what it can offer.

Plume officially opens in the Heights area on the afternoon of Friday, July 26, providing a ritzy new hangout for Houstonians with the busy decor and cocktails to match. While the menu has classics like espresso martinis, Negronis, and palomas, Plume emphasizes its own creations like its Chili Kissed Avocado margarita, a creamy and spicy combination of chili-oil washed tequila and avocado cordial with a chamoy and spicy salt rim, and the gin-based Sol Flare, a shaken-not-stirred concoction of lime, yellow chartreuse, and egg white with Angostura bitters spritz. Bargoers can also enjoy a selection of wine, champagne, small bottled and canned beers, and zero-proof mocktails, including its blackberry mule, a fizzy combination of lime, blackberry, simple syrup, and ginger beer. Those in search of a way to quickly boost their buzz can try house shots, like Mexican Candy shots rimmed with Tajín, and its Surfer on Acid — Jägermeister, a Coco Lopez cream blend, and pineapple rum.

To complement the drinking experience, Plume serves tapas-style dishes like meatballs in a chipotle “ragout sauce,” bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with blue cheese, charcuterie boards loaded with cured meats and cheeses, papas bravas, and creamy deviled eggs served on avocado toasts. Those looking for something sweet won’t be left out — chocolate and hazelnut pot de creme, chocolate truffles, and oversized chocolate chip cookies pair well with the Agave Buzz — Plume’s version of a carajillo that incorporates a “caffeinated concoction of tequilas,” espresso, cinnamon syrup, and mole bitters with a topping of vanilla cold foam.

The location is an interesting choice. Though just two blocks from 20th Street, a popular main street with drinking and dining establishments like La Lucha, the Heights Social, and Preslee’s, Plume debuts at West 22nd and Beall streets in real estate agency Braun Enterprises’s newly opened Urban Office – West Heights — a largely residential area.

The lounge is a first for Golden Ratio Hospitality Group, a newly established company from Braun Enterprise partners Dan BraunJames Fit, and Ted Baker, who have worked in the food and beverage industry for nearly 30 years, according to a release.

Plume is open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, and from 4 p.m. to midnight on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
